Geotechnical Block Modelling

The Geotechnical Block Modelling app brings in the site surveys that are loaded in the Rock Mass Data Importer app and uses the mine site borehole readings to form a mathematical or geostatistical prediction of the geotechnical conditions on and around these surveys.

The app generates a block configuration around selected site structures and assigns each block a parameter value based on a chosen interpolation approach. The results can be visualised in a 3D view or exported for further use.

Block Modelling Steps

  1. Blocking – Select the site surveys and/or domain volumes under analysis and generate a block configuration around these.
  2. Modelling – Assign each block in the configuration a parameter value based on the defined interpolation approach, interpolation parameters and desired viewing filters.
  3. Analysis – Perform a leave-one-out cross-validation on the borehole readings to indicate a general model accuracy and a comparative analysis on the available interpolation approaches based on the input data distribution.
