Rock Mass Data (RMD)

The aim of this module is to allow users to seamlessly import, organise, visualise, and analyse geotechnical data related to the rock mass, intact rock, discontinuities and stress measurements - all in one centralised, powerful database built for modern mining operations.

A dedicated app enables users to perform raisebore stability analysis.

This app is recommended for anyone looking to unlock deeper insights into their data from a geotechnical perspective.

Key Features

  • Import data through automatic synchronization with on-site databases or simple manual uploads
  • Associate geology logs and borehole surveys with all related rock mass, structural, and lab data for consistent, integrated interpretation.
  • Perform detailed and rapid statistical comparisons between groups (such as lithologies or geotechnical domains), with flexible filtering by any parameter:
    • Characterise and classify rock mass quality (RQD, RMR, Q, GSI, etc.) across entire datasets or down-the-hole
    • Conduct spatial and statistical structural analysis in interactive 3D views and stereonets, including clear visualisation and real-time assignment of joint sets.
    • Generate Hoek-Brown failure envelopes from lab test data, complete with histograms, parameter tables, and correlations between UCS and index tests for each intact rock group.
    • Evaluate stress gradients, equations, and orientations using depth charts, stereonets, and 3D visualisations of measurement data.
  • Access an integrated core photo and lab sample viewer to visually validate data alongside analytical results.
  • Perform raisebore stability assessments using rock mass classification inputs, based on the established McCracken and Stacey (1989) methodology.

Supported Data Types

  • Rock Mass Characterisation and Classification from boreholes logs and geotechnical mapping
  • Structure orientation and condition from:
    • Boreholes: Televiewer and Core Logging
    • Line mapping: Traverse/Scanline, Scanline Webforms
    • Surface Mapping: Drift Mapping and Window Mapping, Digital Mapping
  • Intact Rock
    • Lab Tests: UCS, TCS, BRE (borehole or grab samples), including sample photos
    • Index tests: PLT, Leeb
  • Stress Measurements
  • Geology
  • Raisebored Shaft Ratings
  • Core and Lab Test Sample Photos

Manually import your geotechnical data via provided CSV templates or through automatic synchronization with your on-site database (subject to applicable setup conditions).
