AnywhereUSB Configuration Guide
Important Limitations
:::danger Direct Client Access Not Supported Do not connect AnywhereUSB directly to client machines. This configuration is incompatible with the CodeMeter runtime and will cause authentication failures. :::
Common Issues
Direct AnywhereUSB-to-client connections cause the CodeMeter software to malfunction, resulting in:
- Licence detection failures
- Runtime errors
- Inconsistent dongle recognition
Recommended Configuration
1: Set Up Licence Server
Configure a dedicated Licence Server to manage your licence dongle centrally, and broadcast it to mXrap users across your local network.
2: Connect Hardware
Connect USB dongles to the licence server using one of these methods:
- Direct connection: Plug dongles directly into server USB ports
- AnywhereUSB connection: Use AnywhereUSB to extend USB connectivity to the server
Why we recommend this
| Aspect | Benefit |
|---|---|
| Compatibility | USB dongles function identically to software-based licences |
| Reliability | Consistent licence availability across the network |
| Maintenance | Dongles remain functional during server upgrades |
| Scalability | Centralised management for multiple clients |
