Seismic Event Quality

This app is a collection of tools to evaluate the quality of your seismic event database and highlight potential bad quality data. Ensuring quality data is a critical and often neglected aspect of seismic risk management. Many decisions are made based on seismic data and these decisions must be based on reliable information. Tools to investigate potential data quality concerns include density plots of parameter spaces, consistency checks in time and space, potential blast detection, and outlier identification. Noise, blasts, and bad quality data can be tagged and excluded from analysis in the remaining apps in the seismic module.

Key Features

  • Identify shifts in seismic source parameters over time that may indicate a change in calculation method
  • Look for anomalous patterns in source parameters by event density plots, relation between parameters, 3D view, etc.
  • Detect and flag anomalies in the frequency of readings for certain seismic parameters such as S-Wave Corner Frequency and S-P Energy Ratio
  • Investigate potential blasts that may be contaminating the event database
