mXrap Basics

Beginner

This is the starting point for new users that introduces the basic tools in mXrap. Content includes: adjusting the window, controlling the 3D view, surveys and clipping, workspaces, annotations and date filtering.

If you are a non-seismic mine this will cover all the basics needed. Please watch the videos for individual apps to learn how to use any additional apps which you may have.

Videos

Introduction and Opening mXrap
0:01:07

Welcome to the start of the mXrap software training programme. The first video is an introduction to mXrap, support and the aim of the videos and training.

3D View and Home View
0:07:55

An introduction on how to control the 3D view, the various keyboard hotkeys, mouse navigation and plotting surveys.

Plotting a Plan View
0:01:51

So now we can start learning General Analysis by plotting a level plan along with your seismicity. This will introduce many aspects of the 3D view such as grid lines, surveys, series and clipping.

Slicing and Clipping
0:09:46

Grids
0:03:19

Table Views
0:03:03

An introduction to table views. How to edit a table, select rows, show all rows or just filtered rows or selected rows and sort by different columns.

Charts
0:09:49

Events Filtering and Time Slicing
0:03:32

Start to learn the event filtering controls and the difference between LHS and RHS controls. Event filtering in this video includes the date backrange and local magnitude range.

Splitting Viewer Window
0:02:11

This video shows you how to split the window to show the 3D view and table view together.

Selection Boxes
0:04:27

Introduction to selections. How to make a new selection in 3D views and charts, and/or multiple selections, highlight or show only selections controls. Remember the Quick Reference Guide is handy to remember the controls for adjusting the selection boxes.

Volume Specific Filtering
0:03:28

Introduction to volume specific filtering, how to show your volumes in the 3D view and apply the volume filters to events and blasts.

Legends
0:02:32

The first video in Level 2 concerns legends, which are present everywhere you go in mXrap. Learn how to display legends and configure the appearance for different 3D views, charts and tables.

Workspace
0:02:35

Workspaces are available in every app and are used to save your current settings to be quickly used again at a later date. They are very handy to communicate things you've noticed to other members of your team or even to send errors you've notices to ACG. Keep in mind that workspaces were introduced originally meant to be used only in the short term. We cannot always support workspaces through root upgrades so you might lose workspaces from time-to-time. Try not to rely on them in the long-term or be prepared to occasionally have to recreate them.

Annotations Tool
0:05:45

The annotations tool lets you draw arrows and lines in the 3D view. You can also use it to add labels and measure distances.

eXport Panel
0:04:02

You can export any 3D view, chart or table view as a JPEG or PNG image. You can also export tables in CSV format, or stitch multiple images together to create a video. The eXport panel controls the dimensions and format of these exports.

Minodes
0:06:27

Generate minodes using your Mine Geometry Model or survey files.

Survey Setup
0:03:37

This video shows you the survey setup window. This window is available in multiple apps, including General Analysis and General Setup.

Blast Editor
0:03:45

You will need blast data to use this app. This video shows you how to manage your blast information.

Add new Clipping Volumes
0:02:09

Add a new clipping volume using general setup.

Configuring VSAs
0:02:31

Add and configure VSA filter volumes in general setup.

Exercises

  1. Open the "General Analysis" application
  2. "Zoom to extent" to see events
  3. Turn on development surveys
  4. "Focus" on the deeper mine working
  5. Plot the plan view for a level in the lower mine (clip events and surveys)
  6. Split the window with 3D on the left and the FM chart on the right
  7. Use time slicing to step through time plotting the FM chart for 1 months events for the last 6 months
